Ellen Rohr, M.Ed., LPC-Intern
RCC Austin Senior-Level Clinical Intern
Supervised by Fred Tucker, MA, LPC-S
I believe we all thrive on healthy connections with other people. Sometimes we need help repairing and facilitating our relationships. Sometimes we want to clarify what is working and not working in our lives.
Anxiety, depression, relationships, life transitions, grief and loss (including pet bereavement), co-dependency, career counseling, special needs, parenting, and military experiences are counseling specialties of mine. My clients find that I provide a nonjudgmental and supportive environment where they are able to freely express themselves while gaining insight into their lives.
I offer an experienced perspective in the areas of marriage, divorce, parenting, special education, career transitions, and grief. I am an eclectic, person-centered therapist, utilizing aspects of cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, and creative endeavors (art, storytelling, music, and literature).
Growing up as an “Air Force Brat” was a privilege which allowed me the opportunity to live and travel in the United States and abroad. As an educator and school counselor, I have lived and worked in Texas, Germany, and Arizona. When I returned to Austin in 1999, I began working part time for two popular live music venues arranging travel and hotel accommodations for international and national artists.
I have raised two wonderful children and enjoy exercising, traveling, cooking, and spending time at the beach.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a Special Education Endorsement and Minor in German from the University of Texas at Austin, as well as a Master of Counseling Education from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. I studied Counseling at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas and have completed clinical training hours at Capital Area Counseling in Austin and at Texas State University Career Services in San Marcos. My post-graduate training includes completion of Level 1 Training in the Gottman Method of couples therapy, as well as completing additional training in working with parents in the areas of appropriate and effective parental discipline, and helping children transition into adulthood. Other professional training in the role of attachment theory in the therapeutic relationship, and exploring forgiveness in the grieving process inform the work that I do with clients.
