If you have never seen a counselor before, or even if you have, you probably have a few questions about getting started. We welcome your questions at the Relationship Counseling Center of Austin. Here are some of the most questions we are asked most frequently. If you don't find your answer here, give us a call at 512-270-4883.
1. What happens at my first appointment?
Your first appointment with your counselor will be a time for you to tell your counselor what brings you to counseling and what concerns you would like to address. Your counselor will ask you questions to clearly understand your particular situation, and work with you to make a plan for your therapy needs. Our counselors are welcoming, non-judgmental, and offer a safe and calm environment for you to talk and ask questions about your counseling.
2. How often do I meet with my counselor?
Your RCC Austin counselor will talk to you about regular appointments. You may meet with your counselor on a weekly basis, or every-other week. Your appointment schedule will depend on your individual needs and your counselor's recommendation.
3. Do you accept credit cards?
Yes, we accept most major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express) in payment for professional counseling services. If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you may be able to use your bank card associated with these accounts for your counseling appointments. Please verify coverage with your provider. We are happy to provide you an invoice or superbill as documentation for services, and for your personal records.
4. Does RCC Austin accept insurance?
We do not accept insurance at the Relationship Counseling Center of Austin, but we can provide you with documentation if you wish to file an out-of-network claim with your insurance provider. RCC Austin cannot guarantee you will receive reimbursement for services provided. Please check with your insurance provider regarding your coverage.
5. Do you offer sliding scale fees below $100?
RCC Austin offers very affordable and competitive fees for counseling services in the Austin area. We understand you may need a rate less than our lowest fee of $100. If that's the case, we may not be the counseling agency to meet your needs. Feel free to contact us and we will be happy to recommend other Austin-area agencies that may be able to offer you a lower sliding-scale fee than we are able to offer.
6. What are the professional qualifications of RCC Austin counselors?
All counselors at the Relationship Counseling Center of Austin are licensed professionals who have completed graduate degrees and training in counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, or psychology. Each of them have also passed state licensing examinations for their particular licensing board. Our staff counselors hold professional licenses issued by their professional governing board in the State of Texas, and are in the process of completing their post-graduate clinical supervision hours for their licensing boards.
