Linda offers a collaborative approach to working with her clients and tailors her work to each individual and couple she sees at RCC Austin. She is dually licensed as a professional counselor intern and as a marriage and family therapist associate. Linda is trained in EMDR Therapy and uses this approach in her work with clients who have experienced traumatic life events. Linda is also experienced in working with clients with substance abuse disorders, addiction, and addiction recovery. She has completed Gottman Level 1 training and uses the method as a foundational approach to her work with couples. When you first meet Carlene, you will understand why she is good at her work as a counselor. She is calm, grounded, and present to her clients. She works with couples using proven couples therapy methodologies to help bring healing into relationships. She employs EMDR Therapy and Somatic Experiencing Therapy in her work with individuals and couples with trauma histories. She also counsels teenagers and their parents, as well as parents of younger children using her training in the Positive Discipline Parenting Approach, and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). Janie McMahan founded the Relationship Counseling Center of Austin (RCC Austin) to provide affordable, high quality counseling services to the Austin and surrounding community, while also providing a private practice setting to give clinically supervised graduate interns the opportunity to launch their professional careers.

Janie realized her long-time dream of becoming a counselor in private practice following early careers in public policy and higher education academic administration. She has been in the private practice of psychotherapy in Austin for almost four years, first as a supervised intern and then as a fully licensed clinician.
