“Only through our connectedness to others can we really know and enhance the self. And only through working on the self can we begin to enhance our connectedness to others.” -Harriet Goldhor Lerner, Ph.D
Welcome. My name is Sylvia Beligotti, I’m a Marriage and Family Therapist. I work with couples at all stages of their relationships: from those who are just beginning their journey together to those who need a fresh perspective, help with communication, or want to deepen their bonds and strengthen their union. I help individuals experiencing self-identity difficulties, life transitions, difficulty adjusting to change, aging and anger issues, grief, loss, breakup, divorce, and family problems. I can help with defining life purpose and meaning, self-care, and sexual issues.
I know that therapy may seem daunting, scary, and uncomfortable. I also know you already possess what is necessary to change. You will not be alone throughout this process. You can trust my undivided attention, being present and with you every step of the way. I will hold you accountable and support you, help you clarify and work through problems, and provide encouragement along the way.
My treatment philosophy and life philosophy overlap in the most humanistic sense—I believe the experience of being human is the unmistakable wonder that can sometimes inspire beyond words, and other times thunder you into submission with feelings of loss and defeat. Yet, it is the very essence of our humanity, gifts, and flaws, and the surrounding wonder that saves us, builds us up, and keeps us moving on in this indefatigable human journey.
I am honored you chose to share yours with me.
